This was an SAP webcast last week regarding Lumira and BW. Of course, always interesting to me is the question and answer period, which is below the slides.
Links were shown first:
How to Guide - Creating Lumira stories on BW

Figure 1 covers the prerequisites, as of SP8; SAP said to "look at SMP"

Today you can consume BEx queries in Lumira, but the current version is limited to Visualization Room as discussed in Figure 2

During the webcast, we were told a fully functional BW SAP Lumira connection is coming. More is covered below in the question and answer.

Figure 4 covers the demonstration of the session. The recording is not out yet but the steps are covered in the first link above.

Master data is exposed as an infoprovider

Figure 6 covers definitions. As an example, an attribute view is master data on BW

Lumira on BW Data Acquisition mode: There are plans upcoming for end of H1.
Question & Answer
Q: Composite infoprovider in BW is available only in 7.4? Please confirm my understanding
A: The BW composite infoprovider concept was introduced sometime back in BW 7.3.
Q: Do we have an estimate date for the entire BW integration in SAP Lumira ?
Q: Not part of this presentation, but there is upcoming plans for around end of H1. A Desktop connectivity mode called "BW Data Acquistion" mode is currently planned.
Q: When BEx is used as Info-provider and HANA view is generated, what does the job in RSDDB does? Where does it fill data? Does it create only the view in HANA DB or also create table and fill data in them?
A: The job reindexes the HANA view which is generated
Q Does the conversion of BEx queries to HANA view have license implications?
A: Not sure; more of an SAP Account Executive question
Q: Could you please explain the scheduling transaction in BW for exposing the BEx queries to Lumira? Is Lumira consuming the last scheduled instance of data from the BEx query or is a refresh in Lumira consuming BEx on-demand.
A: Once data is in HANA, depending on the connection – if online it is realtime access
Q: If we consume BW objects directly from Lumira vs. the equivalent HANA views, which is faster?
A: Direct connection to BW/BEx is faster
Q: is this temporary workaround SAP is providing or SAP encourages this route
A: not a work around – option for BW on HANA users
Q: How different is using the RSDDB to direct option present in Lumira to connect to Bex as info-provider?
A: Current version 1.23 to have BW real time connectivity there are limitations – can only visualize; no option for data preparation
Q: The RSDDB is available as of what BW on HANA version? How are HANA permissions managed?
A: See link slide
Q: You mentioned the SAP Lumira Cloud. Is it possible to consume live connections in the cloud or do you mean the Lumira server?
A: Only able to publish when HANA offline to Lumira Cloud
Q: I am on BW on HANA SP5 and the TC: RS2HANA_CHECK says it doesnt exists =S
A: See important links above
Q: Accessing BEx query directly and Accessing HANA view of same BEX , can you answer what is the impact on HANA db and performance
A: Not sure about impact
Q: How about BW authorizations work in Lumira? Is there any limitations?
A: Does use authorizations; see links provided above
